Global renewable energy developer, service provider and wholesaler, BayWa r.e. is honored to partner with 3 national advocacy and charitable organizations at this year’s Solar Power International.

The three worthy non-profits are, Women of Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy (WRISE), set up to promote diversity and the role of women in the renewable energy sector; Vote Solar, an advocacy organization which works across the US to make solar affordable and accessible to more Americans; and Grid Alternatives, a non-profit working across both the US and internationally to make renewable energy technology and job training accessible to underserved communities.

At SPI, visitors are invited to the BayWa r.e. booth to play the ‘Giving Game’ and win points for these non-profits.  At our booth, visitors will get a chance to spin a prize wheel and vote for one of the chosen organizations. At the end of the show, an award ceremony will announce the organization that has received the most votes and a $5,000 top prize. The runners up will also receive a donation based on the number of votes.  The more people that play, the more money BayWa donates!

Jam Attari, CEO of BayWa r.e. Solar Projects LLC, commented on the initiative “We believe securing a better, greener future through renewable energy is not just the nice thing to do, it’s the right thing to do for our generation and future generations. In addition to sharing how BayWa r.e is helping to deliver our vision in project communities, we also want to give visitors at our booth the opportunity to support renewable energy charities. We encourage everyone at SPI to take part in our ‘Giving Game’ and help raise money for these great causes.”

This program is a continued part of BayWa r.e. Giving that focuses on providing increasing knowledge of and access to sustainable energy with STEM focused education opportunities, project donations and community engagement. BayWa r.e.  has delivered 50KW of free renewable energy projects and over $100k in funding since it was founded.

BayWa r.e. Giving pays particular attention to generating positive impact on the communities surrounding our work.  We actively look for ways to support local organizations through various efforts like education programs on the benefits of renewable energy and providing actual solar systems, at no cost, that relieve of long term energy costs.

At the All Tribes Charter School in San Diego CA, BayWa r.e. delivered a 25kW rooftop solar system to provide free energy for the school, along with STEM materials to support education on the science and engineering behind the project. The school was set up by two pioneering educators to address the cultural and socio-economic challenges faced by Native American students.

BayWa r.e. Solar Systems LLC has also contributed to natural disaster relief. After Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico last year, the company contributed equipment and transportation to assist in the recovery efforts.

Boaz Soifer, CEO of BayWa r.e. Solar Systems LLC remarked, “Working in partnership is at the heart of everything we do. For us that means delivering a positive impact within the communities we affect, helping them become more resilient with renewable energy generation. Our “Giving Game” aims to be a small demonstration of how we can come together in creative ways to build a stronger energy future.”

North America continues to be a significant market for BayWa r.e. with over 280MW of installed Wind and Solar plants and a pipeline that exceeds 2 GW and over 7,000 solar systems sold through the solar distribution team.
