Our commitment to

sustainability

We are investing in you and our planet, putting sustainability at the heart of everything we do.

Sustainability at the heart of our corporate strategy

As a renewable energy company, BayWa r.e. is fully focused on mitigating climate change by reducing carbon emissions. This begins with promoting sustainability in our own operations.

We already have the CALCULATION AND COMPENSATION stamp for the years 2021, 2022 and 2023 and we are in the process of obtaining the 2024 stamp.

In order to carry out this compensation, 155 trees have been planted with the company ReTree.

Three pillars that drive our sustainability strategy

Our framework addresses social, economic, and environmental challenges with three priority objectives:

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)

We promote a fair and inclusive work environment for all our employees.

Transparency in global supply chains

We ensure transparency in all our operations.

Local community

We work closely with local communities to ensure that our projects generate shared benefits.

Sustainability Framework 2025

Our 2025 Sustainability Framework enables us to measure and improve our performance. Through it, we empower our employees to drive initiatives that have a positive impact on the planet.

Our sustainability strategy

Our journey to sustainability

BayWa r.e.'s Sustainability Report shows the scope and impact of our sustainability strategy and our ESG (environmental, social and corporate governance) framework.

Published every year since 2021, the report highlights the transparency in all our operations and supply chains.

From carbon offsetting to climate contribution

The BayWa Group has been part of the RE100 initiative since 2019, making a public commitment to use 100% renewable energy.

From 2024, our carbon offsetting approach has evolved to one of climate contribution. This is in line with best practice climate action and the Paris Agreement.

Working together to promote biodiversity

The impact of our activities on the natural environment is vitally important. Our renewable energy projects include technologies that promote biodiversity, protecting and creating habitats for insects, birds, and animals.

Developed in conjunction with environmental authorities, we design our projects to integrate with the natural environment.

An example of this is our Alhendín project in Granada, which uses Agri-PV technology to enable the efficient use of land for agricultural production and the generation of solar energy at the same time. In addition, its development is associated with the implementation of a series of long-term environmental and community measures to promote biodiversity and local development in collaboration with the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) and the University of Cordoba (UCO).

We implement measures intended to proactively improve the environment. We also work with associations like SolarPower Europe and Eurelectric to develop sectoral guidelines which reduce the impact of infrastructure projects on nature.

Our diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policy started out as a commitment to sustainability and is now an integral part of our HR approach. At BayWa r.e., we provide a fair, safe, inclusive environment that encourages continuous professional development and close collaboration.
