Local communities and renewable energy

We work with local communities to ensure our projects have a positive and tangible impact.

Are you concerned about the impact of energy projects on your environment? So are we

We believe that renewable energy can be a source of development and progress without compromising the environment.

Through active listening, we involve local communities at every stage of our projects. This enables us to tailor our projects to the unique needs and characteristics of each environment, ensuring sustainable, positive, tangible development in the region.

Our strategy is based on a strong commitment to sustainability, from working with local communities to implementing environmentally friendly practices. Find out more about our holistic approach to sustainability.

Key areas of local action

Socioeconomic development

Supporting local communities is our priority. We focus on fostering socio-economic progress by hiring local labour and providing opportunities for community members to participate in infrastructure development and environmental conservation.

Promoting education

We believe the shift towards an energy transition based on sustainability is a global commitment. For this reason, we invite communities and educational institutions to visit our plants and attend informative talks about the importance of renewable energy for a greener and more responsible future.

Commitment to biodiversity

Our approach is based on continuous research into new measures to implement in our facilities. We seek to mitigate any negative impact on the ecosystem, while fostering community development.

Reforestation pact

In line with our commitment to decarbonisation, at BayWa r.e, we plan to offset the carbon footprint of our local projects through the reforestation of natural areas.

Unai Basurko and Pakea

At BayWa r.e., we have worked with Pakea Sailing Experiences and Unai Basurko, to write a new chapter in the history of sustainability along the Basque coast. Through initiatives like beach clean-ups and educational workshops, we have inspired whole communities to take care of our sea.
