Proactively addressing the age and gender balance

A big part of our DEI initiative rests on closing the employee gender gap, particularly in leadership roles. In 2022 and 2023, 40% of our international workforce were women. That’s still not our 50-50 goal, but it’s ahead of the overall energy sector trend.

We’re also proud of the career value we add for junior colleagues. We empower them to take on responsibilities and learn from our experienced leadership. We’ve achieved a strong balance of age groups within our business. In 2022 and 2023, our average leadership age was 43 and the average workforce age was 36.

But we can only be as inclusive as our talent acquisition practices allow. That’s why we follow the four eyes interviewing principle, include our equal opportunities statement in job ads, and stay fair-minded throughout.

Details like gender identity, nationality, religion, social/cultural/ethnic background, sexual orientation, or disability are not barriers to a job here. We hire based on business needs, job requirements, and qualifications. Our mission can’t succeed without us being an equal-opportunity employer, providing an inclusive environment free of discrimination or harassment.

Additionally, investing in our employees' health is paramount to us. That's why we offer a free Gympass subscription, ensuring our team has access to diverse fitness options for a balanced lifestyle.

  • International Women's Day

At BayWa r.e., we recognize the significance of International Women's Day and its importance in championing gender equality and inclusivity.

As part of our commitment to fostering an inclusive environment, we recently organized a discussion panel featuring three of our colleagues who shared their experiences working in male-dominated sectors. Held both in-person at our office and virtually via Teams, this panel provided a platform for all employees, regardless of their location, to engage with the speakers, ask questions, and exchange insights on both professional challenges and personal triumphs.

This interactive session not only highlighted our ongoing DEI initiatives but also celebrated the professional achievements of our female colleagues. Through these initiatives, we aim to not only commemorate International Women's Day but also actively empower and support women in their professional journeys within our company and beyond.
