Our fifth large-scale solar plant in Spain
Archidona is a PV project located in Archidona, near Málaga in Spain.
The Spanish solar farm is currently under construction and its commisioning its expected in March 2022. With a total power output of 56,3 MWp, the plant will produce enough energy to supply over 40,000 households and save around 25,600 tons of CO2 emissions per year.

Part of the largest Pan-European renewable PPA in history
Once completed, this solar plant together with Íllora, another 150 MWp PV installation that BayWa r.e. is building in Granada, will supply renewable energy to AB InBev, the world's largest beer brewer and owner of the Budweiser brand, to produce 100% green beer.
The sale of electricity is secured thanks to a Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) that BayWa r.e. and AB InBev signed in 2021 in the largest Pan-European solar PPA in history which wil cover 14 breweries in Western Europe and more than 50 brands across 12 countries.

First investment of Encavis Asset Management in Spain
In January 2022 BayWa r.e. completed the sale of Archidona to Encavis Asset Management AG, in the first investment of the leading Renewable Energy investor in Spain .
This will be the fifth solar project completely financed and developed by BayWa r.e. in Spain where we already have over 387 MWp of renewable capacity installed and over 1.5 GW in our project pipeline. Archidona adds to our Don Rodrigo, Don Rodrigo II, Tordesillas I and Tordesillas II solar parks that are already operating across the country.
Local and Global Experience
To continue driving the energy transition in Spain, we have a dedicated team 160 professionals in the country. We have already installed over 378 MW of renewable energy capacity and currently have more than 1,5 GW in our wind and solar project pipeline. In addition we rely on the expertise and financial stregth of our parent company BayWa r.e. that has over 30 years of experience in the development of wind and solar energy projects around the world.
